Schedule

• PRN (as needed)
• Hours vary MondaySaturday
• Typically 10-hour shifts

Experience and Education

Required:

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an AMA-approved school
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
• Mammography certification ARRT(M)
• CPR certification AHA or ARC accredited

Preferred:

• 2 years of mammography experience
• Clinical training at UTSW may be considered as experience
• ARRT Mammography registry highly desired

Job Duties

General Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, well-stocked work areas
• Check equipment functionality and report issues
• Respond to inquiries and communicate equipment/exam issues
• Assist with scheduling and workflow coordination
• Perform quality control and attend required meetings/training
• Adhere to attendance, dress code, and ID policies
• Participate in regulatory compliance and assume supervisory duties when needed

Patient Interaction

• Verify patient identity per hospital policy
• Communicate clearly and professionally
• Prepare patients for exams and ensure comfort
• Assess patient history and symptoms
• Provide education and instructions regarding procedures
• Demonstrate age-specific care for newborns through geriatrics

Exam Performance

• Verify requisitions and consent forms
• Perform high-quality imaging per protocol
• Assist physicians with imaging or biopsy procedures
• Ensure proper labeling and documentation of images
• Administer IV contrast when appropriate
• Complete exam charges and forward documentation to radiologists

Additional Responsibilities

• Train and mentor students and new staff
• Lead technologists in procedure standards
• Participate in QA/QC and accreditation processes
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
• Support safety and operational standards
• Assist with supply management and data reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily in a hospital or clinic setting
• This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215
