Mammography Imaging Specialist

Join Optum as a Mammography Imaging Specialist and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality patient care and mammographic imaging that aids in accurate diagnostics. Your efforts will help create a calming environment for patients to ensure they can follow examination instructions smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify anatomical orientation for required images and ensure proper file identification.
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing all mammographic procedures and operating related equipment.
• Welcome patients, gather medical history, and input information into the electronic medical records system.
• Acquire mammographic images based on guidelines.
• Maintain logs and process paperwork for biopsies.
• Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
• Adhere to quality standards relevant to HIPAA regulations.
• Oversee all clinical aspects of the mammography suite, including cleanliness and stocking of supplies.
• Assist in completing the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years.
• Monitor patient vital signs during examinations.
• Provide support as needed in cases of call-outs or unexpected patient schedules.
• Mentor new hires and offer guidance.
• Create positive patient experiences by providing valuable information about procedures and follow-up requirements.
• Maintain open communication with radiologists, other medical staff, patients, and their families.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) (M) certified.
• Diagnostic Mammography certified or willing to obtain within 180 days.
• Experience with electronic medical records.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine.
• 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and assist in positioning them for equipment operations.
• Vision correctable to 20/20 for the operation of equipment and review of developed films.
