Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Registered Nurse and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations and accreditation standards.

Essential Functions

• Provides daily care of a patient by gathering pertinent information including patient's medical history, treatments, and medications. Admission of patients excluding initial physical assessments and development of care plan. Reviews medical record for pertinent previous and current information. Uses multidisciplinary team strategies to resolve patient problems.

• Administer medications using bar code scanning.

• Respectful and effective communication with all patient populations, physicians, and across all areas of continuum of care

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with Safe Patient Handling procedures, rules and infection control guidelines.

• Maintains continuity among nursing by accurate handoff and documentation

• Knowledge of and implementation of isolation techniques

• Ensures operation of equipment by completing competency checklists; sequestering and completing appropriate TEAM requests for malfunctioning equipment. Evaluates new equipment, follows safety guidelines for clinical devices.

• Assures quality of care by adhering to quality control requirements

• Management of IV therapy. Management of blood transfusion and/or blood products but does not initiate the process.

• Maintains professional appearance and clinical knowledge. Participates in activities and completes mandatory LEARN, annual competencies and educational assignments to maintain and further the profession of nursing and personal growth.

• Dependable for scheduled shifts

• Facilitates and assists in the coordination of patient discharge and referrals.

• Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel.

Pay Range

$20.91 - $29.54 /hour
