Physician Assistant Job Details

• Location: San Francisco, CA (94131) - Access to leading California healthcare facilities, public transportation, world-class dining, arts, and outdoor recreation.
• Setting: Outpatient hospital clinic specializing in neurosurgery spine care
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Physician Assistant job)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (No weekends or holidays)
• Shift Duration: 8-hour days
• Hours per Week: 40
• Contract Length: 4-6 months, with potential extension
• Patient Volume: 20-22 patients/day in person; up to 26/day with telehealth
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• End Date: June 15, 2026
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $5600-$6000

Physician Assistant Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (required for PA jobs)
• Active California PA license or eligibility to obtain (California Physician Assistant jobs)
• DEA license with Schedule 2/2N authority (required)
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in orthopedic spine surgery, neurosurgery, or pain management with spine patients
• Experience in an academic medical center or outpatient clinic strongly preferred
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Physician Assistant Responsibilities

• Conduct independent consults and follow-up appointments for adult neuro-spine surgery patients
• Perform outpatient procedures: staple removal, drain removal, and wound care
• Order imaging, prescribe medications, and manage clinical aspects of patient care
• Triaging calls and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team of APPs, surgeons, physiatrists, MAs, and patient navigators
• Support surgeons in clinic (no operating room or inpatient responsibilities)
• Optional: Perform trigger point, hip, and/or knee injections if experienced
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management
