Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15). Weekend coverage required every other weekend.

Job Description

The Neuro ICU is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in neuro critical care. As a comprehensive stroke center, our patient population includes various conditions such as strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), craniotomies, and spinal cord injuries. Nurses are expected to provide high-quality care for complex neurological cases and be proficient in specialty procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neuro patients.
• Monitor and manage neurological assessments, including ICP, EVD, and lumbar drains.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and manage ventilated patients effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for patient care and safety.
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions as needed.
• Participate in care for acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery patients.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit (float experience does not count).
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS are preferred.
• MUST pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Strong experience with specific neuro procedures and management of stroke patients.
