Litigation Special Counsel

A respected law firm based in Miami, FL is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to support its thriving Construction Practice Group. This is a non-partnership track role suitable for a legal professional who thrives under autonomy and can manage a substantial caseload. The role centers on dispute resolution, particularly through arbitration, and requires an individual with a high level of focus, initiative, and strong written advocacy skills.

Duties

1. Handle a diverse portfolio of litigation matters, particularly those arising in the construction sector
2. Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
3. Represent clients in arbitration, mediation, and litigation proceedings
4. Conduct legal research and draft persuasive legal memoranda
5. Participate in hearings and oral arguments, including occasional trial exposure
6. Take and defend depositions as needed
7. Assist with settlement strategy and negotiation
8. Oversee workflows involving paralegals and support professionals
9. Collaborate closely with attorneys located in Tampa while working from the Miami office

Requirements

• 2 to 7 years of relevant litigation experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage a substantial volume of active matters
• Prior experience with arbitration and construction-related disputes is highly desirable
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a professional office setting
• Background in resolving insurance-related litigation, design defect claims, or similar construction disputes preferred

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)

Certifications

Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar

• Skilled in motion practice and oral argument
• Effective time management and organizational aptitude
• Team leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
• Familiarity with both court and arbitration procedures
