Lead technician role at South University Laboratory with full-time 8-hour day shifts and weekend rotation. Join our dedicated team to enhance our laboratory services.

Job Summary

• Oversee pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Act as the key point of contact in the absence of a supervisor.
• Collect, process, and test laboratory specimens, utilizing both manual and automated methods.
• Exhibit proficiency with laboratory equipment relevant to your role.
• Demonstrate independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
• Commit to ethical standards and promote a positive work environment.
• Pursue personal learning and training opportunities.
• Recognize safety hazards and adhere to safety protocols.
• Assist in the training and competency assessment of laboratory staff.
• Serve as a valuable resource to healthcare personnel and collaborate with various departments.
• Participate in validations, proficiency testing, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Provide constructive feedback for performance assessments.
• Perform additional related duties as required.
• May require occasional travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences is required.
• Two years of laboratory-related experience is preferred.
• Must possess national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via an approved agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) is also acceptable.
• If working in North Dakota (ND), must hold a license from the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
• Maintain continuing education credits as required for state licensing and certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
