Salary Range: $32.50 - $49.50

Department Details

As the lead technician at South University Laboratory, you will work full-time during the day shift with a weekend rotation.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for all phases of laboratory testing including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes. You will adhere to standard operating procedures while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory standards are met. As a point of contact in the absence of a supervisor, you will:

• Collect and process laboratory specimens, performing both manual and automated testing in line with laboratory policies.
• Utilize equipment relevant to your role effectively.
• Exercise critical and independent judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
• Promote and exemplify the organization’s values, contributing to a positive work environment.
• Engage in continuous learning and recognize safety hazards to comply with safety protocols.
• Assist in the training and assessment of staff competencies.
• Collaborate with healthcare personnel and different departments.
• Participate in validations, proficiency testing, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Provide constructive feedback for performance appraisals.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
• Potentially travel to other locations as required.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences.
• Preferably two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• A national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an accredited Health and Human Services agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or certification as a Medical Technologist (MT).
• Licensure from the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice if working in North Dakota.
• Maintain necessary continuing education credits as per state requirements for licensure and certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
