Job Summary:
The Lead Laboratory Technician will support the Client Analytical Sciences Laboratories at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE. The role involves preparing samples, operating analytical instruments, and assisting technical staff with laboratory analyses for R&D, Technical Service & Development (TS&D), and Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering, with hands-on experience in chemical laboratory practices, analytical methods, and safe handling of chemicals.
Key Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or Engineering — or equivalent experience through on-the-job training.

The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering, with hands-on experience in chemical laboratory practices, analytical methods, and safe handling of chemicals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples, reagents, and standards for analysis following established procedures.
- Acquire and assess basic data quality for X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray tomography, and electron microscopy analyses.
- Perform particle and energetics measurements such as particle size, density, contact angle, surface tension, and surface area.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments routinely.
- Handle and dispose of laboratory waste safely in accordance with standard protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory areas, restocking supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with technical staff to meet analytical needs under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in laboratory sample preparation and analytical techniques.
- Experience with various laboratory instruments, including XRD, tomography, and microscopy equipment.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
