Medical Assistant Leadership Role

Provides leadership, expertise, support, and training to Medical Assistants and Ambulatory Care Assistants. Performs basic nursing skills, and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Current National Certification as CMA required.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• Associates Degree in healthcare related field.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
• Serves as main point of contact for back office and clinical staff.
• Provides direction and guidance to staff M.A.'s and ACA's.
• Serves as the primary training facilitator for onboarding new M.A.'s and ACA's.
• Provides supervision to staff in absence of Supervisor/Manager.
• Assists in scheduling of staff.
