Job Title: Laboratory Medical Technologist

Location: Gouverneur Hospital

Hours Per Week: 40 scheduled weekly hours

Schedule: 8 hour shifts

SUMMARY:

Join our dedicated medical team as a Laboratory Medical Technologist, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate clinical laboratory analyses of blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues. By utilizing advanced instruments and methods, you will assist physicians in their diagnosis and treatment while adhering to departmental procedures and regulatory requirements. Your ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment will be key in this vital position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform testing accurately and promptly.
• Interpret clinical test results, correlating them with patient history and conditions to guide appropriate actions.
• Communicate urgent and critical lab results to medical personnel.
• Conduct quality control and routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Prepare reagents and manage inventory, keeping cost containment in focus.
• Utilize computer functions for testing management and workflow optimization.
• Provide teaching assistance for the School of Medical Technology when needed.
• Consistently meet regulatory laboratory requirements.
• Assist in additional duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Medical Technology or a related Science.
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Frequent walking, standing, or squatting is also required.

The listed base pay range represents the current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant and may be adjusted in the future, with eligibility for additional pay components based on factors such as experience and qualifications.
