Responsibilities
- Standards of Practice: The RN utilizes the nursing process to deliver competent care, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Tasks include:
- Assessment: Collecting relevant data regarding the patient's health.
- Diagnosis: Analyzing assessment data to identify actual and potential issues.
- Outcomes Identification: Defining expected outcomes individualized to each patient or situation.
- Planning: Creating a care plan that outlines strategies and alternatives to achieve expected outcomes.
- Implementation: Executing the identified care plan.
- Coordination of Care: Overseeing care delivery and transitions.
- Health Teaching and Promotion: Employing strategies to foster health and safety.
- Evaluation: Assessing progress towards outcomes.
- Standards of Professional Performance: The RN engages in leadership and accountability in professional conduct, which encompasses ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, and education.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required; a BSN is preferred. All newly hired RNs must obtain current BCLS certification within one month of hire.
Experience: This position is foundational for all RNs, with opportunities for advancement through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
Licensure: Must hold a valid and current nursing license in Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Special Skills: All RNs are encouraged to pursue advancement through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.
Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as effective use of sight, hearing, and touch. May encounter various health conditions, including infectious diseases. Job involves moderate stress and potential risks associated with patient care, with the need to assist in lifting patients weighing from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds.
