As a vital member of the Yale New Haven Health System team, you will practice as a Registered Nurse (RN), upholding our mission and values to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. You will operate within the legal and ethical frameworks of nursing, demonstrating leadership, effective communication, collaboration, and accountability in all aspects of your role.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
• Respecting and integrating cultural diversity into your nursing practice.
• Collaborating effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
• Engaging in therapeutic communication and holistic data collection.
• Formulating individualized care plans that reflect patient preferences and needs.

Responsibilities

• Standards of Practice: Ensure competent nursing care through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, health teaching, promotion, and evaluation.
• Standards of Professional Performance: Uphold ethical practice, cultural congruence, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, and evidence-based practice.

You will also utilize appropriate resources to support safe and effective patient care, evaluate nursing practices for quality assurance, and practice in a manner that promotes environmental health.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification is required within one month of hire.

Experience: All Registered Nurses are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

Licensure: Must hold an active nursing license in Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification is highly encouraged.

Special Skills: All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

Physical Demand: This role requires prolonged standing, walking, and sensory acuity. Nurses may encounter infectious diseases and physically demanding situations, including lifting and assisting patients weighing from five to three hundred pounds.
