Full-time Outpatient Lactation Consultant Coordinator

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Outpatient Lactation Consultant Coordinator to lead our lactation consultation services for patients. This role is essential in providing compassionate, family-centered care in the outpatient setting, focusing on breastfeeding, chest-feeding, and support for pumping parents.

The Outpatient Lactation Program aims to ensure that our patients receive personalized and effective lactation plans. You will work collaboratively with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized lactation plans.
• Demonstrate specialized expertise in breastfeeding, chest-feeding, and human lactation.
• Build strong relationships with patients and families to enhance their experience and satisfaction.
• Partner with the health care team to ensure seamless coordination of care.
• Maintain compliance with standards set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and other relevant professional associations.
• Contribute to program development, management, and reporting using data-driven approaches.
• Facilitate training and presentations to educate staff and community members about lactation best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• Certification/Licenses: Current New Mexico RN license required; BLS certification required; completion of the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Course required.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, cultural humility, and understanding of socio-economic factors influencing lactation.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years providing lactation support.

Work Environment: This position may involve exposure to infectious diseases and requires flexibility due to varying work hours and the handling of emergency situations. The ability to stand or walk for extended periods is necessary.
