Full-time Behavioral Health Therapist - Emergency Response

Position Summary: Join our dynamic team as a Behavioral Health Therapist, where you will provide clinical services to patients in diverse settings such as the hospital, emergency department, primary care, and outpatient behavioral health offices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.

Certification/Licenses: A provisional license as an LMSW or LMHC in the State of New Mexico is required. Completion of a prevention and management of aggressive behavior course within 2 months and BLS within 6 months.

• Strong assessment and referral capabilities in the behavioral health realm.
• Experience managing diverse patient presentations related to behavioral health.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, case management, and referral processes.
• Familiarity with psychopathology and ICD-10 diagnostic criteria.
• Skilled in coordinating interdisciplinary treatment goals across various departments and community resources.
• Expertise in delivering evidence-based, solution-focused therapeutic interventions.
• Capability to lead therapeutic groups such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, DBT, and supportive therapy sessions.
• Proficient in formulating treatment plans alongside the treatment team.
• Adept at assessing clients in crises and facilitating transitions to higher levels of care when necessary.
• Flexibility in adapting to changing job assignments.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Experience: Preferred but not mandatory experience in a human services agency.

Nature of Supervision:

Direct accountability to the Director or designee within Behavioral Health Services.

Working Environment:

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and potential infectious diseases, with normal environmental conditions including heat, light, and air. Involves multiple simultaneous activities related to patient care, including exposure to blood, odors, and noise.

Physical Requirements: Candidates should possess the emotional and physical resilience to navigate the stresses associated with inpatient behavioral health work. Responsibilities may include emergency lifting and physical interventions. Must be capable of prolonged standing or walking, with proficiency in good body mechanics. Frequent lifting, positioning, pushing, or transferring of patients or equipment may be required. Ability to handle crisis situations effectively is essential. Hearing and visual acuity within normal ranges, alongside manual dexterity and fine motor coordination, are necessary. The position may require on-call duties and readiness for short-notice emergency responses.
