Mixer Lead

In this role within the bakery department, you will operate various machines including mixers, fillers, and baggers. You will work collaboratively in teams of 3-4 to transform raw materials into doughy products through processes involving grinding, mixing, filling, and bagging.

Responsibilities

• Operate mixing, filling, and grinding machines, as well as baggers.
• Switch between mixer, filler, and grinding machine operations.
• Scoop cauliflower into a grinding machine and mix with other materials to create dough.
• Monitor and adjust bagger settings such as speed, temperature, weight, and vibration.
• Read and interpret batch tickets to prepare dough.
• Weigh and add specific amounts of raw materials and starches to each batch.
• Operate a tumbler for specific batches involving starches, flour, and eggs.
• Mix batches, move them through filling machines, and process them into dough balls.
• Oversee the dough cutting, pressing, heating, blast freezing, and packaging processes.
• Set up and monitor equipment including mixers, fillers, ovens, presses, baggers, and cartoners.
• Monitor temperatures, speeds, and durations; perform equipment maintenance such as changing rolls, cleaning, and clearing jams.
• Utilize sit-down forklifts to move materials within the facility.
• Manually lift and move materials as needed.
• Track product details and perform visual and quality inspections.
• Maintain GMP compliance.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in the food industry.
• Experience with machine operations, batching, and production.
• GMP experience.
• Some lead experience.
• Forklift operation skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with baggers, wrappers, films, cartoners, mixers, and fillers.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment involves both normal and cold conditions, especially during winter. The facility operates on a 1st shift from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM and a 3rd shift from 11 PM to 7:30 AM. There is potential for overtime, including possible Saturday shifts depending on production needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manteno, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.95/hr.
