Job Title: Field Service Technician - Final Inspector

Job Description

Join a team of expert engineers and technicians in a dynamic role where you will serve as the frontline technical expert supporting customers with installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and modifications of automation equipment and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical control systems at customer sites.

• Install, test, and commission new equipment, including supervising placement, verifying hookups, and performing system adjustments.

• Perform on-site upgrades and retrofits, including assembling kits, integrating components, debugging, and updating documentation.

• Train customer personnel on system operation, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance.

• Provide remote technical support and diagnostics from your home office.

• Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.

• Collaborate with internal teams to communicate field updates, redline prints, and support accurate documentation.

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships while representing the company with professionalism.

• Maintain detailed service records and ensure project completion within quoted margins.

• Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and UL specifications.

• Travel frequently, including overnight stays, based on project location and customer needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall customer and company success.

Essential Skills

• Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with 7+ years of hands-on experience in control systems or field service.

• Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, including experience with PLCs.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints and wiring diagrams.

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, basic hand and power tools, and panel shop equipment.

• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support customer interactions and internal collaboration.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly by car and air.

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., move frequently, and work extended hours on-site in industrial environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in wiring/schematics/point to point wiring/terminations.

• Experience in troubleshooting, assembly, repair, and service of control systems.

• Experience with blueprints, field service, preventive maintenance, installation, and electronics.

Work Environment

Looking for local candidates for the Final Inspection role who are open to traveling when needed, potentially for up to 2 weeks at a time. The team consists of 5 Final Inspection Technicians and 1 Final Inspection Lead. The role requires working first shift in a professional and collaborative environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
