The Opportunity
We are seeking an Executive Director to join our team. The Executive Director provides leadership for a senior living community, overseeing operations, goal setting, and long-term growth. They lead a team with a positive, open-door approach and effective communication, setting an example and ensuring attention to detail in resident care and wellbeing. The ED manages staff, staff training and development, resident and family satisfaction, occupancy, regulatory compliance, budgeting, community leadership, and sales and marketing to meet or exceed occupancy and revenue goals. The Executive Director promotes Five Star’s mission, philosophies, and values in all interactions with team members, residents, and families.
What You’ll Do
Ongoing Community Management and Communication
- Partner with regional, divisional, and corporate leadership on planning, supporting, and implementing change initiatives.
- Hire, train, coach, develop, and motivate team members across all areas, providing regular performance feedback.
- Assess and manage staffing levels based on occupancy, ensuring community needs are met within budget.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on team member matters, including performance, disciplinary actions, and terminations, aligning with company policies.
- Keep the Regional Director of Operations informed of activities, needs, and issues.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, working with department heads or legal counsel as needed.
- Prepare and present reports required by regulatory agencies and corporate.
Resident Experience Oversight
- Ensure a positive resident experience by building relationships and setting high standards for team performance.
- Foster smooth, efficient operations through timely resolution of grievances from residents, families, and staff.
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree and appropriate Administrator’s license/certification per state requirements.
- Passion for working with seniors.
- Experience as a General Manager, Executive Director, or Administrator in healthcare.
- Management experience supervising at least 10 staff, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Financial acumen with experience in financial reporting, P&L, labor modeling, and EBITDA control.
- Experience in sales and marketing, with ability to build local relationships to drive business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
