Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to analyze drawings, parts lists, and other data to determine manufacturing requirements. This role involves consulting with outside suppliers, compiling and reviewing requests for quotes, and preparing cost estimates for management's use in planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, and conducting make/buy analysis. The Estimator is responsible for producing timely, accurate, and complete estimates while displaying awareness of competitive market trends and cutting-edge manufacturing processes. The role also involves analyzing customer blueprints, specifications, proposals, and quality requirements to prepare time and cost estimates for parts in aerospace, military, and other industries.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, parts lists, and data to determine manufacturing requirements.

• Consult with outside suppliers and compile requests for quotes.

• Prepare cost estimates for planning, organizing, scheduling work, and preparing bids.

• Produce accurate and complete estimates in a timely manner.

• Stay updated with competitive market trends and manufacturing processes.

• Make recommendations to improve manufacturing processes.

• Analyze customer blueprints, specifications, and documentation for time and cost estimates.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience in estimation.

• Knowledge of the aerospace and defense industry.

• Proficiency in ERP systems.

• Experience with cost estimation software.

• Ability to prepare bids and RFPs.

• Familiarity with ITAR/Export Control regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing or supply chain functions is acceptable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Ability to interpret blueprints and prepare quotes.

• Knowledge of project management and planning scheduling.

Work Environment

The role offers a lot of autonomy and is situated in a stable industry with room for growth. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with some flexibility on start and end times, and occasional overtime. The position is based in an ITAR/Export Control facility that primarily deals with government contracts. Although the role is primarily office-based, it requires occasional walking on the production floor. The ideal candidate will be pleasant and outgoing, as the role may involve client-facing interactions. This is the only position in the department, reporting directly to the owner, offering opportunities for growth as the company expands.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coron a, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $30.00/hr.
