Material Handler I
Summary: If you enjoy physical activity and working in a dynamic environment, join our team as a Material Handler! Under close supervision, you will perform essential physical and administrative tasks related to material handling, including shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, returns, and storage. You'll get a chance to lift heavy items and operate a forklift.
Compensation: Starting pay is $20.00/hour.
Job Duties:
- Unload and direct the movement of shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
- Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments within our Warehouse Management System to ensure accuracy in product type, quality, and quantity.
- Gather, verify, and place items into order picking containers for outgoing shipments.
- Prepare essential documents such as packing slips, shipping labels, and bills of lading.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and properly maintained warehouse work areas and equipment.
- Replenish primary stock shelves from reserve stock locations as needed.
- Safely operate a forklift.
- Be prepared to work after hours as needed.
- Occasionally perform driving duties.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma or GED and 0-2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to comprehend and carry out instructions in oral, written, and diagram formats.
- Basic computer skills for information processing.
- Ability to perform basic math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly stand, walk, talk, hear, and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl. Capable of regularly lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 150 pounds with assistance as necessary.
Licenses & Certifications: Certified to operate a forklift and handle hazardous material shipments. A valid driver's license is required.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibility.
Budget Responsibility: No budget responsibility.
