Emergency Department Monitor Technician - Full-Time

Position Summary: Join our dedicated team as a Monitor Technician, where you will play a crucial role in the Emergency Department. This position involves assisting nursing staff during critical situations by transcribing physician orders and maintaining vigilant observation of cardiac rhythms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor and document cardiac rhythms, reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
• Perform clerical duties to ensure accurate unit records.
• Act as the main communication center for the nursing unit.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Director, Clinical Manager, and Clinical Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must complete Basic Dysrhythmias courses within three months of employment. Medical Terminology knowledge is preferred.
• Certification/Licenses: BLS certification through American Heart Association is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, basic computer and typing skills, and strong phone etiquette. Must have good spelling abilities and be fluent in English.
• Experience: One year of hospital experience is preferred.

Nature of Supervision: Responsible to the Director and Clinical Manager.

Work Environment:

• Requires adherence to safety protocols regarding bloodborne pathogens.
• Must use protective equipment when potential exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals exists.

Physical Requirements:

• Most tasks will be performed while sitting for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and transport patients via wheelchair.
• Must be capable of listening to multiple conversations while attending to other duties.
