Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist
The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist performs electroneurodiagnostic procedures using established protocols and procedures in a clinical lab, inpatient, and epilepsy unit setting. Modalities include EEG, AEEG, EMU, Wada Testing, EP, NCV testing, ERG, and IOM. Training on modalities will take place on the job and be provided by a Registered Electroencephalographic and Evoke Technologist (ABRET) registry.
Core Competencies
- Perform all the duties of an Electrodiagnostic Technologist II.
- Capable of contributing to quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Expected to lead daily department huddles as assigned.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist with examination protocol and policy review/revisions.
- Expected to perform basic lead technologists' functions such as coordinating work assignments, workflow, and staffing for an assigned shift/area; serve as a clinical or technical resource; provide training.
- Capable of initiating service calls and following up until issues are resolved.
- Demonstrates the ability to participate in EOC rounding and TJC tracers alongside department leadership.
- Capable of acting as a safety coach duty as they may be asked to serve on the committee.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and mentor other learners.
- Expected to show initiative and contribute to successful modality operations.
- Capable of recognizing excellence in coworker performance and not participating in disruptive behavior.
- Demonstrates the ability to initiate process improvement discussions with senior leaders.
- Expected to anticipate the needs of patients and coworkers and work to proactively remove barriers to exceptional customer service and/or teamwork.
- Expected to prepare and present continuing education for both adult and pediatric cases.
Advanced Competencies
- Performs all advanced competencies of a Clin II.
Knowledge and Competency
- Highly experienced. Proficient in advanced competencies.
- Thorough knowledge of technical standards, the scope of practice, department and health system policies, safety and service standards.
- Participates in the development of modality policy, procedures, and workflows.
- Thorough understanding of neurodiagnostic equipment, processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.
Education, Certification & Experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
- Associate's degree in a related healthcare field and/or 2 registries in Neurophysiology.
- Individuals with at least 4 years of experience can use this in lieu of the education & registry requirement.
Working Conditions : Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids. * May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. * May have periods of constant interruptions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
