Cardiac Sonographer Registered

The cardiac sonographer performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.

Essential functions include:

• Performing diagnostic echocardiography examinations using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart.
• Demonstrating ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
• Demonstrating knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.
• Preparing and monitoring patients before and during procedures.
• Utilizing the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information and document any critical findings.
• On call hours required.

Education: Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred).

Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (required). Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred). EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred). Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred).
