Position Details:

• Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Technician

• Reports to: Truck Shop Manager
• Pay: $21/hr-$26/hr
• Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and more after 60 days
• Retirement: 401k after 60 days with matching contributions
• PTO: 1 week in the first 6 months

JOB SUMMARY

As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of diesel equipment. Your key responsibilities will include conducting inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing any vehicle deficiencies.

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assess vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn or damaged parts.
• Ensure equipment availability by adhering to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Resolve vehicle deficiencies by executing repairs, adjustments, and replacements across various systems including powertrains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, brakes, and hydraulics.
• Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
• Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting as necessary.
• Document vehicle records by annotating all services and repairs.
• Ensure shop equipment functions efficiently through routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Manage costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating parts options.
• Maintain inventory by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed.
• Enhance the reputation of the maintenance department by taking ownership of tasks and exploring new opportunities.
• Train new hires on job responsibilities and techniques.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: 6+ months of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and a collaborative approach.
• Exceptional organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• A strong understanding of operational safety requirements and adherence to regulatory protocols.
• Ability to identify technical malfunctions swiftly.
• Proficiency in the use of repair tools and diagnostic equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Good visual acuity and strong communication skills.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Adeptness in a fast-paced work environment.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
