Notes from Boeing HM : qualification we need to perform my team's DAE Major/Minor finding is an "ETOPS General" qualification in the tool as a DAE. Without being involved directly, it is difficult for you to see the difference, but essentially, there is a three-part determination for the Major/Minor.

1. A system team DAE will determine major or minor at the system level, including any reason it may be major for ETOPS at system level.
2. The ETOPS DAE must also do a major/minor determination for ETOPS at the system level as an oversight role. In our tool, it is a subsystem of "ETOPS General" that is able to do this.
3. The ETOPS DAE must do a major/minor determination at the airplane level.

Support ETOPS Program (Generic)
Complete Major/Minor Determinations (MMDs) per FAA Regulation 21.93(a)(*)
Development Program (737MAX/777X)
Review and provide ETOPS Major/Minor Determinations (MMD) per FAA Regulation 21.93(a) (*) for pre/post ATC changes
Sustaining (737/767/777/787) & Out-of-Production
Review and provide ETOPS Major/Minor Determinations (MMD) per FAA Regulation 21.93(s) (*) for changes
Required Design Approval Engineer (DAE) credentials to perform task, which includes annual training and any additional FAA requirements
Deliverable format : Major/Minor Determinations in Boeing Design Change Classification System (DCCS) tool
Acceptance may be subject to Boeing's internal MMD audit process where determinations may be audited by a Boeing-employed Design Approval Engineer (DAE).
