In-Home Caregiver

Feeding Hills, MA - part-time, Mondays and either Wednesdays or Fridays from 9:30am-1:30pm; companion care, transportation assistance, caregiver with vehicle needed. Can be combined with other clients to achieve your desired number of hours. A female client in Feeding Hills is in need of your help! Mrs. M's family is looking for some in-home assistance for her on Mondays and either Wednesdays or Fridays from 9:30am-1:30pm. She's had some cognitive decline and is needing some companionship as well as transportation around town. Please consider applying if you have a personal vehicle and are able to help Mrs. M!

Responsibilities:

• Transport clients to and from appointments, errands, etc.
• Assist patients with daily activities such as moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles
• Care for patients by changing bed linens, doing laundry, cleaning the home, or assisting with personal care
• Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor
• Build relationships with patients by conversing or reading aloud to help keep them mentally healthy and alert

Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience in direct care
• Punctuality, reliability, compassion, patience, empathy
• Strong ability to read, write, understand, and speak English so as to:
  • Read ADL's
  • Communicate verbally with clients, families, co-workers, and administrative staff
• Vehicle or transportation
• Ability to add Business class 30 to insurance
• Valid MA Driver's License
• Pass a background check
• At least 2 professional references (not friends)
• Be willing to accept at least 1 e/o weekend shift

Preferred:

• HHA or CNA certification (not required, we work with applicants to get HCA certified)

Compensation: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour

Visiting Angels West Springfield provides in-home care, senior homecare, elderly care, personal care, transitional care, fall prevention care, companion care, respite care, palliative care, dementia care and Alzheimer's care. Services span from 1 hour visits to 24/7 care.

We service Southampton, Westfield, Southwick, Holyoke, West Springfield, Agawam, Chicopee, Springfield, Indian Orchard, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Ludlow, Feeding Hills and Montgomery. The franchise covers the entire Greater Springfield Area and most of the Lower Pioneer Valley region.

Visiting Angels of West Springfield has official accreditation from the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts. We have also received Home Care Pulse's award for Best of Home Care - Provider of Choice every year since 2015.

We are currently hiring caregivers! Basic job requirements include:

• Current US driver's license
• Car
• 1 year of caregiving experience
• Ability to pass a background check
• Strong ability to read, write, and speak English, including:
  • Read ADLs and personal care instructions
  • Communicate verbally with clients and families
  • Write shift notes to update the family, office, and other caregivers
• Punctuality and reliability
• Compassionate and caring heart
• Patience and willingness to learn new skills

*Certifications are welcome (CNA, HHA, etc.) but not required. We do offer training and mentorship programs to new caregivers.
