In the Cell Kinetics lab, you will be testing for leukemia and lymphoma. You will handle samples such as blood, bone marrow, and tissue specimens in an assembly line format. The role involves pipetting, aliquotting, centrifuging, and adding chemicals to isolate white blood cells, staining these cells with antibodies, and running them on flow cytometers. You will be trained on three different benches initially, with the opportunity to learn over ten other benches upon becoming a permanent employee.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests for leukemia and lymphoma in the Cell Kinetics lab.

• Handle and prepare blood, bone marrow, and tissue specimens.

• Isolate white blood cells through pipetting, aliquotting, centrifuging, and chemical addition.

• Stain white blood cells with antibodies.

• Run stained cells on flow cytometers.

• Participate in training on various benches within the lab.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science such as Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, or Neuroscience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with flow cytometry or cell sorting is a plus.

• Willingness to accept OPT.

Work Environment

You will work in a vibrant and community-focused lab environment with approximately 40 colleagues on the day shift. The lab fosters a supportive and collaborative culture, offering opportunities for professional development and career growth. Working hours are Tuesday to Saturday, day shift, with start times varying from 7:00 to 8:30 am. Initial training will occur Monday to Friday. The lab is friendly and community-oriented, with social events such as potlucks and parties organized by a Social Committee.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
