Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Canton - Potsdam Hospital

Hours Per Week: 37.5 weekly scheduled hours

Schedule: 7.5 hour shifts, variable times

SUMMARY: Join our dedicated medical team as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist! In this role, you will perform essential clinical laboratory analyses on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues, playing a critical part in aiding physician diagnosis and treatment. Utilize your problem-solving skills and theoretical knowledge to navigate complex clinical and instrument challenges while adhering to all regulatory requirements. We value your independent judgment and responsibility in providing accurate results within the established turnaround time using advanced instruments and methodologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct laboratory testing accurately and efficiently.

• Interpret clinical test results in relation to patient history and conditions to facilitate appropriate actions.

• Communicate critical lab results and address instrument issues promptly with medical personnel.

• Perform quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshoot any instrument problems.

• Prepare reagents accurately and manage laboratory supply inventory wisely to ensure cost containment.

• Maintain proficiency with computer functions for ordering, performing, and reporting lab tests.

• Provide teaching support in the School of Medical Technology as needed.

• Consistently meet all regulatory laboratory requirements.

• Take on additional responsibilities as requested by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma

• New York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.S. in Medical Technology or a related Science

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Requires exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.

PAY RANGE:

$33.75 - $45.00
