Chemical Operator
We are seeking a skilled Chemical Operator to join our team. This role involves processing, purifying, and chemically fabricating products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations. The ideal candidate will operate various equipment and handle chemicals to ensure quality production and maintenance of accurate inventory.
Responsibilities
- Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products through batch operations.
- Operate equipment such as reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses.
- Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales, and flow meters.
- Weigh, measure, and check raw materials and finished products to ensure proper ingredients and quantities.
- Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing in accordance with SOPs.
- Locate materials in the warehouse and transport them to manufacturing areas using a forklift.
- Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
- Maintain required log sheets including batch tickets, packaging sheets, and equipment inspections.
- Attend HSE training and demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of topics such as Hazardous Waste Management and Hazard Communication.
- Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
- Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and OHSA standards.
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in the work area.
- Communicate with shift leaders regarding safety, production, quality, or other operational issues.
- Participate actively in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.
- Adhere to all corporate, plant, and safety policies/procedures.
- Wear personal protective equipment as applicable.
- Complete assigned training including corporate, HSE, and quality-specific requirements.
- Assist other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of applicable experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
- Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.
- Experience working in a clean-room environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift certification is preferable.
- Hazardous Waste Operations certification is preferable.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Haven, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
