Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life & Creative Arts Therapies.

This key leadership role is responsible for designing, developing and managing clinical programs to deliver patient and family-centered child life, creative arts, and therapeutic recreation services throughout Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital (inclusive of inpatient care, ambulatory care, perioperative services and emergency medicine) as well as select adult inpatient units of NYU Langone Health. Serves as a critical member of the HCH leadership team and Sala Institute and as such, participates and leads strategic hospital-wide initiatives and innovative multidisciplinary program planning. Works collaboratively with the development team to engage new philanthropic support and, to effectively steward existing philanthropic partners to sustain and expand robust clinical programs as patient care programs are developed and expanded.

Job Responsibilities:

* Fiscal Management: Prepares and monitors the budget with design to support core operations and advance services and growth throughout the organization.Collaborates with Development to identify, pursue, and renew external funds to support department initiatives and to foster corporate and donor relationships. * Human Resource Management: Creates and supports an environment that fosters teamwork cooperation, respect, and diversity. Provides leadership to all areas of the department to support and empower individuals to make decisions, enhance skills, and promote Family-Centered Care practices. Establishes and ensures consistent implementation of performance standards and provides staff with ongoing feedback. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and retention of staff. Ensures staff meet all requirements of the position. Identifies priorities and resources to facilitate continued staff development including clinical supervision, competency assessment, professional skills development, and teambuilding. * Program Development: Designs and implements effective departmental operations/systems. Develops complete, current and relevant policies and procedures in accordance with organizational objectives, departmental scope of service, Family-Centered Care practices, and regulatory agency requirements. Integrates trends in healthcare and the profession to identify future needs for program development, space, and financial resources. Identifies needs and opportunities to positively influence the quality of developmentally appropriate, family-centered care practices across the NYULMC enterprise. Plans and facilitates programs fostering staff development and teambuilding. * Quality/Process Improvement: Provides leadership in the development, oversight, and completion of department goals. Ensures services meet professional standards and regulatory requirements. Provides for ongoing monitoring of key indicators and utilizes the established performance improvement process to improve services/care. Provides leadership and consultation to facilitate effective design. Oversees and maintains departmental data collection.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life, Creative Arts Therapies or closely related field required. Minimum of five years paid progressive clinical and leadership experience in a healthcare setting is required. Demonstrated knowledge of medical and psychological aspects of disease, illness, and disability on patient and family; expertise and successful track record in developing innovative family-centered programs collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams . Demonstrated highly effective oral and written communication skills. Writing samples will be required..

Preferred Licenses: Creative Arts Therapist License, Child Life Specialist Certification

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or licensure in a specialty within the field is strongly preferred. Experience and track record of successfully developing and stewarding philanthropic funding.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $88,524.96 - $147,541.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
