Banquet Manager

The Banquet Manager at TWA Hotel is responsible for assisting in directing and motivating the Banquet team while personally providing high quality service to guests based on requirements and standards. Furthermore, this role monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities including asset protection, clear communications, having ownership in the success of the event, identify training opportunities, and plans a strategy to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and apply knowledge of all laws, as they relate to an event
2. Understand the impact of Banquet operations on the overall hotel success
3. Adhere to and reinforce all standards, policies, and procedures
4. Ensure established sanitation levels are maintained
5. Manage departmental inventory and maintains equipment
6. Use banquet beverage records to control liquor costs and manage the banquet beverage perpetual inventory
7. Schedule banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits
8. Develop lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth
9. Set goals and delegate tasks to improve departmental performance
10. Conduct monthly department meetings with the Banquet team
11. Apply and continually broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and cutting-edge cuisine with emphasis on current event trends
12. Set a positive example for guest relations
13. Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
14. Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
15. Empower team members to provide excellent customer service
16. Ensure team members understand expectations and parameters
17. Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with team members
18. Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures
19. Review quarterly Meeting Planner Survey results and participate in the development and implementation of corrective action to address service challenges; focuses on continuous improvement of guest satisfaction
20. Lead and participate in all pertinent meetings

Requirements:

1. High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel/College training preferred
2. 2 years minimal experience in event management, food and beverage or related area
3. Solid understanding of banquet revenue generation
4. High energy and outgoing personality
5. Organizational skills and attention to detail
6. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, event management software, and customer management platform
8. Creative and innovative, as well as proactive and customer-oriented
9. Excellent time management
10. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
11. Strong leadership and communication skills
12. An aptitude for self-motivation
13. A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach
14. A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel
15. Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, calculating gratuities, percentages, and variances
16. Ability to effectively perform under pressure, to remain calm and courteous even in difficult situations.
17. Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment
