As an Auditor for Acute and Profee Surgical, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Surgical CPT coding. This role involves auditing and educating coders and providers on surgical CPT coding within the Middle Revenue Cycle Coding Services Operational Team. You will focus on CPT, ICD-10-CM classifications, Modifier assignments, and Official Coding Guidelines, ensuring both acute and professional CPT codes are accurately applied.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing Optum360 coding services, managing facility and Health Information Management (HIM) Center operations in your region, and leading initiatives aimed at improving coding quality and efficiency. As a vital member of the Optum360 HIM/Coding Operations team, you will engage in client meetings with Quality Teams, and help track and monitor performance metrics to enhance coding accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of coding and coding operations, ensuring best practices are in place.
- Foster consensus for standardization and best practices in coding operations.
- Collaborate with HIM, CDI, and Coding Operations on daily operations and quality reviews.
- Assist leadership in continuous improvement initiatives within coding.
- Ensure high standards of performance are met through proper auditing and educational efforts.
- Act as a liaison between coding operations and clients, building strong relationships.
- Utilize tools and data to enhance engagement and performance.
- Promote a positive, motivated team environment to drive results.
- Engage in leadership forums to share knowledge and facilitate training.
- Lead special projects to improve service delivery and outcomes.
- Be a Subject Matter Expert on relevant laws and regulations impacting coding practices.

Required Qualifications:
- AAPC or AHIMA coding credential (CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA).
- 5+ years of recent OP coding and/or coding reviewer experience.
- Experience collaborating with CDI and Quality teams to enhance coding accuracy.
- Familiarity with computer-assisted coding technologies and EMR workflows.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in coding or auditing across multiple surgical specialties.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations from federal and state levels.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
- Experience interacting with diverse stakeholders at various organizational levels.

The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06, based on full-time employment. Your pay will be influenced by local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
