The Associate Merchant plays a crucial role in managing merchandising functions for assigned categories, driving business objectives, achieving sales and margin goals, and executing merchandising strategies. Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating on the development of sales and margin plans alongside sales forecasts for assigned categories.
• Managing open-to-buy positioning and purchasing merchandise strategically.
• Engaging in vendor negotiations concerning pricing, quantity, delivery, and terms.
• Implementing and overseeing effective merchandise packaging and presentation techniques.
• Assessing merchandise mix using consumer trends and business needs to optimize assortments and planograms.
• Analyzing advertising and promotion performance to refine merchandise plans and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Executing category pricing strategies and managing exit strategies for slow-selling items.
• Researching competitive landscapes and consumer trends to ensure strategic alignment.
• Identifying merchandising risks and opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations.
• Offering guidance and support to Merchant Assistants.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a business or operations-related field.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience in merchandising or retail operations.
• Proficient knowledge of vendor negotiation techniques.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and thrive independently in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hybrid role, requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA, with remote work on Monday and Friday.

In compliance with Pay Transparency requirements, the estimated salary range for this position begins at $67,500. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors such as location, education, experience, and qualifications.
