Real-Time Systems Architect

We are seeking a Real-Time Systems Architect with strong expertise in Node.js, Kafka, and LLM integration to design intelligent, scalable solutions that enhance customer care experiences. This role blends backend engineering, real-time data processing, and AI-powered insights to deliver seamless, live support through innovative UI components.

In this role, you will:

• Design and develop backend services using Node.js to consume and process real-time events from Apache Kafka and other streaming platforms.
• Integrate LLMs (e.g. Gemini, OpenAI, or similar) to generate contextual knowledge suggestions and summaries.
• Build and maintain a UI widget that presents live knowledge assistance to CC agents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX and QA to deliver seamless and intelligent agent experience.
• Ensure scalability performance and reliability of the solution in a production environment.

Work model: Remote

What you need to have to be considered:

• Strong experience with Node.js JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience integrating with LLM APIs (e.g. Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
• Understanding of microservices RESTful APIs and cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with real-time communication (WebSockets, SSE).
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in frontend development (React.js or similar frameworks).

Salary and other compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $112,500 - $132,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
