Medical Billing Specialist

Manage medical billing and reconciliation for vaccines and prescriptions that are not billed through the pharmacy system and also refunds to patients that overpay. Review data analysis of third party payments and pricing issues.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine patient eligibility status and estimate patient responsibility on medical claims through third party web portal for the Specialty department and Giant Eagle pharmacies.
• Manage the medical billing dedicated phone line for the medical billing patients when questions arise regarding coverage, patient responsibility and patient refunds
• Maintain the medical billing reconciliation to assure that payments are promptly received and unpaid claims are corrected and rebilled to sent to collection for patient responsibility.
• Bill claims through the pharmacy system after the patient estimation is received and notify the pharmacy that the claim is billed
• Address any billing issues submitted by the pharmacies through the medical billing email
• Add patient's to the Giant Eagle collection process when patient is not charged properly or claims are denied
• Refund patients when they are overcharged on claims
• Analyze data on drug prices and reimbursement by third parties to determine if prices should be adjusted or if reimbursement should be challenged.
